What Is the Australia Visitor Visa?
The Australia visitor visa (Subclass 600) lets you travel to Australia for a holiday, to visit family and friends or for short business activities. Depending on your circumstances, you may be allowed to stay for 3, 6 or 12 months at a time.
Sri Lankan passport holders are not eligible for the ETA or eVisitor, so almost every Sri Lankan traveller needs a Subclass 600 visa. You apply online and the Department of Home Affairs assesses each application individually.
The visa does not allow you to work. You may study for up to three months in total, for example a short English course.
