If an Australian student needs a guardian, such as if they are under 18, Student Guardian (Subclass 590) permits some people to live with them. They must meet all requirements for a Genuine Temporary Entrant, including having sufficient funds to cover travel and liv ing expenses.

Qualified international students may remain in Australia after completing their studies and get work experience under the Temporary Graduate (Subclass 485) visa category. Depending on their degrees, students can work in Australia for anything from 18 months to four years.

Students pursuing exchange programs for secondary schools, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, postg raduate research in higher education, vocational education and training (VET), and ELICOS (English Language Intensive Courses  for Overseas Students)  are eligible for student visas (Subclass 500).
