If you hold an NDT or a diploma

The National Diploma in Technology from the Institute of Technology at Moratuwa is a three year diploma, not a bachelor degree, so it will not usually meet direct masters entry on its own. The standard routes are a BTech top up through the Open University of Sri Lanka, or an Australian graduate certificate in construction used as a bridging qualification into the masters. Plan for the extra step rather than discovering it after you have paid an application fee.

• Credit for prior study. If your Sri Lankan degree is closely related, recognition of prior learning can remove a semester of fees entirely. UNSW grants 24 units of credit to eligible applicants, which is three subjects.
• Part time work. 48 hours a fortnight at Australian wages meaningfully offsets living costs, but it must never appear in your visa financial evidence as a funding source.
